Copying contacts from T-mobile sim to iPhone

I just unlocked an iphone 2G with firmware 1.1.4 two days ago. I plug my T-mobile sim in the phone and it works great, only problem is, all the contacts on my SIM are not being read by the phone. I was hoping someone would be able to help me copy these contacts onto my phone.

Also when i connected the iPhone to my computer, all address book with all my ichat contacts where uploaded onto my iPhone. I would also like to know how to go about getting these contacts off my phone.

Please help

If you still have your old tmobile phone then all you need to do is connect your tmobile phone to your pc and use windows address book to sync it to. Then you plug your sim card to your iphone, plug it in let itunes turn on, go to info tab and enable sync with windows address book. Click sync at the bottom.
This will get your contacts from tmobile sim to iphone.

Or update to firmware 2.0 and this function is built in. You can read your SIM address book directly into the iPhone.

I use a Mac. How do i go about copying my contacts to my computer that way?

If i where to upgrade to 2.0, would my iPhone still be unlocked afterwards?

When you use 2.0 firmware, there is an operation to copy contacts from SIM to PHONE.

Under Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calanders>Import SIM Contacts

Then under iTunes, with your iPhone Connected, go under the "Info" tab, and check the "Sync Contacts with ___."

Click Apply and Sync!
