Package file size mismatch! I figured it out!

Lately we all hate this!!! lol!

after hours of messing with the phone (not to get to the root of this problem, but rather just for fun) i finally realized why this is happening. when you put installer on the iphone thorugh AppTappInstaller.exe it loads Installerv2.63 and then prompts you to update to v3.08b...
the problem? the current version available now is 3.09b. I believe this is why that dreaded message pops up.
only way around that is to put any 3.0 version on the phone directly. hope it answers some questions. i can write a mini guide if people need me too.

ok here it is...
I am going to assume you have a fresh 102 phone (Not jailbroken/Activated) and windows xp.

Step 1: Download required f1l3z: http://www.modmyi.com/forums/downloa...o=file&id=2033

Step 2: Extract Attachment to wherever you want (Desktop is ok).

Step 3: Run AppTappInstaller.exe to jailbreak the phone and put Installer on it. Success!

Step 4: Open the "point and click activation (with youtube)" folder and double click the "(CLICK HERE) activate.bat" file. Follow Directions. Success! We now have access to Springboard. Touch Installer icon to launch installer and voila!...
oh wait... "package file size mismatch" WTF is that? lol. jk... onto the next step.

Step 5: Open the "SSH kit" folder and double click the "sshify-windows.bat" file. Follow directions. Success! But, not so much because it doesnt work quite like the OpenSSH download from Installer (we're working on it chief!). But It works just enough to get the job done... so next step.

Step 6: Hook up to your Wi-Fi Network and make note of the IP address.

Step 7: In "WinSCP" folder, Launch WinSCP. You know the drill here... host name is your IP, root, dottie, SCP, yatta yatta yatta, I'm all tired today (Seinfeld reference! ). You will get a "Error looking up user groups" error. click ok and on to the next step.

Step 8: On the right side of WinSCP near the top, there's a drop down menu. click it and choose "/ <root>". Double click the "Applications" folder.

Step 9: OK, so far so good. On the left side of WinSCP, locate the "Installer.app" that came with what you downloaded. Click and drag it to the right side, but dont let go! Drag it towards the bottom of the window until the list begins to scroll down. Drop it on the empty space below the "YouTube.app" folder. WinSCP will prompt for overwrite. click "Yes to All". When it finishes copying, reboot your phone!

Step 10a: Success! (Maybe...) The new installer icon should be on your springboard. tap it. If it goes through, sweet! You're done!

Step 10b: If Installer appeared to launch, then went away, log back into WinSCP. Go to /<root> again. Now to Applications. Now go to "Installer.app" folder and look for the file called "Installer". Right-Click on it and choose properties. Look for the word "Octal" and the text box next to it. Erase what it had and type in 0755 and hit ok! Reboot Phone! Success! Yay! Installer works! But, wait a minute chief! WTF, Installer keeps quitting!... Go to next step if this is the case.

Step 10c: For some reason this happened to me in one of my trials. Solution you ask? Run AppTapp Installer again and let it jailbreak your phone and put another copy of Installer on your phone. It will overwrite the one you put on the phone. When this completes do Steps 7,8,9, and 10 and it should work.
Now you may proceed to Install the usual suspects... BSD, Community Sources, OpenSSH, Oktoprep (LOL).

PS: i know this guide was kinda long for something simple, but hey, foolproof maybe? LOL.

i have an idea. not sure if it will cause it to work though.
when the bad installer gets put on your phone. open it and try to update it. let it fail. then proceed with the steps. I think that might do the trick for some reason.i hope it does. let me know.

hey im stuck on step 8 im getting an error messege "Connection has been unexpectedly closed. Server sent command exit status 127 Cannot initialize SFTP protocol. Is the host running a SFTP server?"

Hi, I have the same problem and did not have the bsd subsystem installed before. Can this still work ? I understand that winscp only works when there is bsd and/or SSH. Thanks

i ssh my bro's iphone with winscp then copied the working installer.app to my hd, the ssh my iphone again and paste it to the aplications folder, then i rebooted my phonen and it worked... =)

Can I use winscp to copy the installerapp from a working fone, save it on my pc and then use ibrickr to download to the one wif the problem ? if so any advise on how to go abt? Thank you v much.

I followed every step of this guide... and in the end it didn't work the installer.app from the Installer Fix Kit.zip, that's why i copied the newest installer.app version from my bro's iphone and put it into mine by ssh... and it worked..

is this all so possible in Firmware 1.1.1 I have te same problem there.

im not sure about 111 since i am not able to test it on that FW. but if the SSH kit works on 1.1.1 i dont see why not. the only difference is that the Password for 1.1.1 is alpine and not dottie.

Well I think I spoke to soon last night. I now have Installer v3.0b10 on my iphone but do not seem to be able to use the program. I have tried adding the sources http://i.unlock.no/ and http://markmon.mine.nu:90/iphone/repo/repo.plist with no luck. When I refresh I get "Checking Sources..." then "Refreshing sources..." then an error that "refresh failed Could not refresh sources!". When I try and install something, say like NES, I get Downloading... then error Package download failed: can't find host!

Do you have any suggestions?
