I can ssh into my phone without the use of an apple cord. Have we always been able to do this. I have always hooked up the cord to the pc then sshed into the phone. I know people have made a big deal about wanting to use bluetooth to access their files wirelessly and if you can ssh wirelessly I can hardly see the need for the other. I installed beat maker, which lets you put files on your iphone, I didnt know if this had anything to do with it. Will someone respond so I can know the deal with file transfer.

Here's the deal. Many people don't have a wireless router at home, hence no WiFi. Nor do they have a WiFi adapter on their PC. So they must use a program which allows them to access the iPhone through the Apple cable.

But anyhow.... There is a way to SSH into your device without having an WIFI connection... Use a program called iPhone Tunnel Suite.... But you still must connect device to pc.
