Yellow Screen Explanation

Just purchased two 3G's. One has the famous "yellow screen" and the other has a screen (color temperature) close to 1st generation phone. If apple wants to muck with color temperature, why not simply provide a user adjustment? Another interesting "feature": notes won't save. No kidding. What's the deal, apple? These things cost as much as a low-end laptop. Anybody else see extremely wide variations in this new yellow-screen "feature" or a "notes" problem?

I've seen the yellow screen and more 'normal' screen variations. The yellow one has a lot better contrast, you'd be surprised.

My only real issue is quality control (or lack thereof). I haven't seen an "apple explanation" that accounts for the wide variations. My notes problem is interesting, though. I've become accustomed to using this program on the 1st gen. I guess I'll try a reflash.
