I want to replace my cracked screen

I have an iPhone and the only problem with it is the screen is cracked. The touch response is perfect and so is everything else. The only question I have to ask is it's possible to replace it right? Oh and what's a digitizer? I just want to replace the glass screen for the iPhone, but I hear the the digitizer is fused with the screen. Can someone explain to me what that is? And if it's possible, how would I go about replacing my glass screen?

I bought it myself because i got my glass display cracked too. And do not go to ifixit.com ! They charge more, their video how-to is not complete. Believe me, i was there already. And dont forget the tools u need to repair your iphone. If i were you, i would order at least 5 of those plastic case openers......You will break couple of them before u learned how to open the iphone case. good luck!!
