Help Cant Restore Contacts, Messages etc in Itunes After Downgrade

I dunno if there is a way around this, but hopefully someone can help
Ive just downgraded from 2.0 back to 1.1.4 and made sure I did a final sync/backup before starting the downgrade process, but after successfully completing the downgrade, and re-installing itunes 7.7, when it asks you if you want to set the iphone up as a new 1, or restore from an earlier backup, it wont let me, it just says "The Backup iphone cannot be restored to this iphone becuase the software on the iphone is too old"

Is there a way I can get everything back without having to upgrade back to 2.0? Or do I have to upgrade back to 2.0 first and do something to prepare for the downgrade back to 1.1.4?

you can restore a 2.0 backup onto a 1.1.4 phone. it's probably wise for you to sync your contacts, calendar, photos and music/video to you pc using outlook, etc and sync that way, rather than doing a backup

you'll just lose your settings and text messages and call log
