Mic Problems
Hey guys I'm having some trouble with my iPhone mic and have a few questions...First of all this is what's wrong:
- VoiceNotes never records anything (It will sit there and say its recording but the decibels will stay the same and when playing it back it will be blank)
- The new "Listen" song identifying app never identifies my songs (I don't know if this problem is with the "betaness" or my mic)
That being said, I have made several test calls and and I can hear and be heard talking normally (on AT&T) and talking on speakerphone. My questions are does anyone know an actual method of testing the mic (other than test calls) and is there a seperate mic for calls other than the one on the bottom of the phone on the right hand side (opposite the speaker)
Thanks for your help

You might load up the guitar tuner Funiculus and use the mic input to measure audio input...

there might also be a hardware problem, but most likely it isn't. Worst case is you'll have to restore

same exact problem to me. mic dont work in apps (vnotes, listen and funniculus)
I restored the firmware 1.1.1 and nothing change.
The funiculus guitar tunner show a flat line (no audio input) , bu the mic works ok making phone calls
Then I copy this files from another iphone with the mic ok that apps
com.apple.celestial.plist file in /var/root/Library/Preferences/
SystemSoundMaximumVolume.plist file in /System/Library/Frameworks/Celestial.framework/
but still dont work, could be a hardw issue?

Same issue here. I thought listen was crap until I realized this was the problem.
It also will not function when trying to set a new vmail answering machine. Very frustrating problem.
Maybe we can find a common ground if we compare apps. that may have damaged the mic.

Since that thread which is linked above is pretty large, I thought I'd repeat the relevant part: the fix for your mic problems apparently involves going into Settings on your phone and resetting to the defaults once or twice. See the thread for more details.
