your wi/fi router assigns the IP address... you want a static address or
a longer lease.
the method depends on the router!http://jpassoc.com/x -- with free itunes under the puppy!
If I help you out, please press ★THANKS!

Funny, same thing happens to me. iPhone can't keep static IP, switches to DHCP. And today I upgraded 1.1.4 to 2.1 and restored from iTunes to get back my SMS and contacts etc. and damn thing "restored" the problem too! So same thing on 2.1.
Any ideas, anyone? I tried settings reset and "Forget Network".

my ip is always different. I think it's because I use my wifi for different things, like my psp, xbox, and my mom has and iphone too.

it's called dhcp lease...
Make an ip reservation.. Maybe even add a dns entry and address ur iPhone by name...

It's not DHCP problem. iPhone switches from static to DHCP as soon as I close Settings. It's like it can't save it.

then leave dhcp and just choose ur desired ip at the router...
