My feeling is that some of these processes run in the background just as they do on the 1st gen iPhone, iTouch. I had crappy battery life on my 1st gen on every firmware (especially on 1.1.3 and 1.1.4) but completely fixed the issue by using sysinfo to kill processes like mobile music player, safari, mail that had nasty habits of staying running despite closing the apps. I also discovered that "respring.app" will do the same thing but easier. I now respring using the app after playing the ipod, reading mail, going on Safari or playing 3rd party games. No battery issues at all anymore.

My point is that perhaps when 3G iPhone is more readily jailbroken AND aps like sysinfo or respring are compatible, the battery issue may be managable.

You know I could buy the bug in the firmware theory seeing as their are tons of little problems with 2.0 software. Apps don't load always or can't be purchased and I've had mine respring on me a few times too.

My batter life has proven to be rediculously short, the apps and everything doesnt load fast and my speakers sound like ****, i cant compare it but im very dissapointed.

Should i take it into Apple and replace it or do you think nothing will change?

I read in another post that if you have the AIM app installed it will continue to run in background even after you close the app unless you set "run in background" to 'off' in the settings.

for an app to reach the appstore it must abide by apples rules and regulations, one of which is no background processes.

i think 3g just sucks the battery real bad and we gotta learn to love and live with it or go back to EDGE speeds.

im going to keep a charger with me every were i go and learn to live with it.

Are you refering to turn off when exit. Otherwise can you help me find the Run in background I can't find that.

That would be it.
If there is an option to turn it off when existing and the option is OFF then it is fair to believe that it will continue to run.

Why else would Apple allow for the app to have that option.
