Yes, it will. Don't update
Can a mod make a sticky telling people with unlocked phones not to update as soon as it's out???
The Maps update is probably just a new app, so it can probably be just be tweaked to work on 1.1.2, and the others are probably straightforward enough for modders to do something with.Last edited by redcard; 12-29-2007 at 04:13 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

i think instead of everyone rushing to get 1.1.3, we need the dev team (or someone who can hapily install 1.1.3 & still SSH into it) to extract the apps and see what can be made to work on 1.1.2

so its confirmed it will brick if your unlocked via anysim etc, but what about a turbosim user??

Looks like a nice update, but so close to the SDK coming out, its very aggrivating that they did this. I can understand them trying to stop people unlocking the phones, but why shutting out us AT&T customers who just want to hack our phones?

What a joke - Apple is providing updates that are basically already available through this site. If anyone can not see that the sole purpose of this upgrade is to lock your phone you have been blinded by Apple.

There is no reason an update should brick a StealthSIM, TurboSIM phone. This is not an iPhone mod, it's a SIM mod.
Also, unless 1.1.3 updates the bootloader, it shouldn't affect phones that have been unlocked with IPSF's SIMfree.
But it's always better to be safe than sorry, and wait for confirmation from these groups and developers that the update is safe to go through.
Apple isn't twisting their evil mustache plotting against hackers, nor are they going out of their way to ensure their updates don't interfere with hacks, they simply don't care. Their partners (AT&T, O2) are the ones getting peeved; Apple already made their money with the sale.
The purpose of this upgrade is two fold, to increase features for customers, and to make the way for adding offline website abilities (downloading websites so they can be used natively on the iPhone) to encourage people to use web apps rather than feel the need hack. It's a futile idea, but they are trying to make their partners happy.Last edited by Eurisko; 01-02-2008 at 10:27 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost
