Charge lasting 12 hours on standby AFTER battery replacement.

As per the title really.

I'd noticed my iPhone's standby time had suddenly get very bad indeed, 12-14 hours max and the phone would switch off.. So I figured I'd need a new battery.

Not adverse to the soldering iron, I bought a kit myself, opened the phone, soldered in the new battery.

Charged with my PC..

Standby still last 12-14 hours.

Anyone else had this, or could maybe offer advice?

You might have a cell problem with the battery. Dead cells equals less charge. Does your phone get really hot when charging?

It gets warm. But then it always did. Even when it was still 'fine'.

The new battery gets to the same temperature as the old one

You should have sent it in for repair rather than doing it yourself. Only thing I can suggest now is try re-upgrading the baseband, since the baseband affects the battery operations and time. Although I am not 100% sure on that.

Can't send it for repair, it was a US 1.0.2 phone, and I'm in the UK..

Interesting developments though.

I used iLiberty/iDemocracy to ERASE the baseband. Since I've done that I've been at 100% (according to MyBattery) for 4 hours.. With the baseband 'intact' I'd be on around 60-70% by now.

Any ideas why?

Obviously the phone is useless as a phone in this state.. But still..

Well, I woke up this morning and the phone was dead. It'd discharged over night.

I'd read on here:

that flashing the BOOTLOADER up to 4.6 had helped some people with this problem.. So i've just done that now..

The flashing went without hitch.

I used winpwn to make a 'clean' 1.1.4 with bootneuter, MyBattery, and Cydia on there.

Currently waiting for it to charge to 100%

As an aside, the LocateMe function in Google actually works now, it's never worked on my OTB 1.0.2 before. Even when I upgraded to 1.1.4

This kinda proves that there's more going on with the BootLoader and BaseBand interaction than meets the eye..
