Unlocking bluetooth?

Does anyone know a way to somehow unlock the crippled Bluetooth feature? It seems that you can only hook up a headset to the iphone as it is. Is there a way to activate some of the nifty features we have all come to love in other phones. also, i just got a bluetooth addapter for my laptop, and, if you could unlock the bluetooth, could you be able to transfer internet to the laptop over it?
