Iphone Frozen - Want to Recover but there is no Itunes recognition/recovery
I am new and apologize if this issue has been hit on thoroughly, but I could not find a specific example like mine after searching for a while.
I recently attempted a jailbreak on my 1.1.4 iphone using ziphone for windows xp; however, I must have accidentally stopped the process in the middle. My phone immediately went to the screen with the arrow pointing towards itunes (telling me to connect). My itunes does not recognize my iphone at all no matter what I do.
My attempts to fix included uninstalling/reinstalling itunes twice, trying all new cables, trying new usb ports, trying a different computer, and recovering the iphone. When plugged into the computer, the "found new hardware/install software" screen pops up, but it cannot find the software on my computer or internet. I downloaded the recovery software online and tried to load it with the same result in itunes.
I would greatly appreciate your help, and I apologize again if I'm beating an old drum. I will continue to research and I will stay calm!

I have attempted the DFU mode/restore mode without any luck. I have been very careful to follow those instructions carefully again, but it still returns to the same screen and is never recognized in itunes.

I don't understand. If you put your phone in DFU mode... iTunes MUST recognize the phone and complete the RESTORE process before you can use the phone.

That is what is strange about all of this. Instead of coming up in recovery mode, the pc tells me that it's found new hardware: Apple Mobile Device (Recovery Mode). Itunes shows nothing and the pc cannot find the recovery software that needs to be installed. I know there is a way to manually put the phone in DFU mode without using the buttons, but I don't know if I should even mess with it anymore. It is still under warranty so a replacement may be possible, but will this be an issue?
Yep, warranty is void. Thanks for all of your help though! If you have any ideas on how to force the iphone into DFU mode and be recognized that would be awesome. I appreciate it and am starting to get desperate...Last edited by nissanfan00; 06-16-2008 at 05:50 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Nissanfan00 i have an suloution for you're problem!
Hello. i'am just going to apologize in advance for any misstypings or bad grammar, Im from norway so that explains my language problems, But lets cut to the chase shall we?
Nissanfan00: I had the _EXACT_ problem as you had/have ( dont know if you're had your iPhone fixed or not. posting this anyway incase anyone else has this specific problem.) I to had problems with the iPhone after trying to recover it and accidently canceled the process in a somewhat mystifistic fassion.
What i found out after almost 1 hour trying the DFU metod with no success was that i unplugged my iphone from my computer (wich has windows on it. with itunes open if that has anything to do with it, doubt it. but thats what i did, it worked so i would recommend you doing the same thing.) and plugged the phone to the battery charger.
I then tried the DFU method again with no success. in mighty dispair i plugged the phone back into the USB on the computer and i did the DFU method again and then my iTunes detected my beautiful iPhone again and asked " bla bla found a iphone in recovering mode...bla bla.... if you want to proceed press `OK`" wich i then did and have had no problems with the phone after that (wich has been around 10 minutes or so:P)I hope this will work for you aswell! (or any other male/female whom got this problem!)
If you're having problems feel free to ask me and i'll try to help you as well as i can. I'll bookmark this page and stop by now and then!

I had also faced the same problem when I had my iPod touch. What you should do is make sure you have the latest version of iTunes. It could be possible that the version of your iPhone and computer are not compatible. If neither of those work.......you'll have to go to the.....APPLE STORE!!!!!

then you are doing it wrong, hook up the iphone turned on then hold the power and home button tell it urns off count to 10 once the phone turns of then let go of the power button and wait about 10 to 20 seconds for your computer to recognize the iphone or ipod but dont let go of the home button tell itunes pops up and gives you the "this ipod needs to be restored" message.
how did apple figure out it was out of warranty? did u tell them what you were trying to do when it went into recovery mode or past the 1 year mark?Last edited by cjgonzales1900; 12-26-2008 at 02:21 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost
