Thread: Is iPhone limited to 85 native apps?

Default Is iPhone limited to 85 native apps?
I've noticed that if I have more than 85 native apps (including the 17 that Apple provided) -- that's five full Springboard pages plus 1 more app -- then Springboard hangs on the Apple logo screen and won't launch. The only solution at that point is to ssh into the phone and trash one of the apps, and then the phone boots.

Now, of course, 85 is a big boatload of apps. I had neglected to delete anything I ever tried (including all of the stuff). Still I'd rather not be limited if there's a workaround.

So has anyone else experienced this issue? Is there a solution?

I seem to have this issue as well - even with the apps moved to the Media Partition !!!!

As a matter of fact, yes, the apps are setup on the media partition. Would that have something to do with it?

I'm gonna call BS on this. And it would matter what partition yours is on, because if you don't redirect it to the Media partition, you would only be able to have like 6-7 apps before you run out of free space.

I currently have 113 apps showing on springboard, all installed on the media drive. No problems here.

I only have 49 on 1.1.2, but I didn't move partitions and I stll have room left.

How many did you install manually then? I was referring to using only Installer.

I use installer on 1.1.1 and the Applications folder at root, and about 38 apps, all through installer, no hanging at all, once in a while I get the "need to free up disc space" warning, but thats the worst I've ever gotten. I'm sort of wary to make another sym link, as that can have issues far worse...
