Really? $99? I'll easily pay u $150 shipped for it. <sarcasm, unless you really want to sell it>
Its easily worth well more than that, take a look on ebay.

Where's the option for "sell your 2G iPhone & buy a Nokia / Blackberry" lol.
Well I sold my 2G iPhone and will be getting the Nokia N95 8GiG
And $99 bucks? Lol. You can get way more for your iPhone on Ebay than that...

150$ max.
Good point, although,
Once you go mac, you never go back.
Seriously, I can't use a 'normal' cell phone anymore. I love my iPhone (except for its pathetic resale value).myRepoSpace.com - Easily create your own Cydia Repo.

Its going to worth more than the 3G if its hard to get hands on the 3G version without contract.

It's funny to watch Iphone users that are not MAC users just now figuring out how apple works.
We've been doing this jive dance for decades boys....... you're just joining the fun.
Gotta start saving.... I hear the semi-annual re-release of 5 new mac's are out in 5 months which makes my 1 month old book obsolete. Never saw that one coming Apple!

Well you should have sold it when the price went down, they were going like hotcakes at the time!

Should it be worth more now that not everyone can just go buy one and unlock it to work with another network?
If anything was usefull a thanks would be great!

A car drops in value soon as you drive it off the lot, and drops even more once next years model comes out. Same is true for most purchases. Apple isn't the only company doing this boys and girls. It's the price we pay for staying on the leading edge. No sense in getting mad about it.

I have a feeling that the original iPhone will still have some value to potential buyers out there. The fact that AT&T is making you sign a contract and activate right there in the store is going to make it hard for people to resell them and unlock them for other networks. Now, I'm sure someone will find a loop hole in order to do it but there are still a ton of people that would love an iPhone and will take the original if they can't get a 3G. They will pay a good price for them too especially since they are no longer in production.

I just sold my 2G, 16GB, unlocked phone on eBay for $460.00 so it is possible to get almost all your money back. Definitely enough to buy the new 3G.

i'm gonna be keeping my first gen as a paper weight. i'd love to give to someone as a gift, maybe even one of my parents but sadly as is, with my external speaker not working anymore, they woudl get annoyed at using it. i get annoyed with missing most of my calls
3G iphone here i come!

I hear your pain; I've got 3 x 16GB iPhone 2Gs (1 for girlfriend & 2 for me; 1 live & 1 dev) and no matter what I tell myself, I know I'll be getting myself at least 1 3G @ 16GB.
Remember: New 3G iPhones are discounted because of the 2 year agreement that goes along with it. If someone isn't so into 3G & wants an iPhone for existing or new GSM service, they can buy your 2G not getting a 2 year contract with it.

I'm moving to Japan, so I have no choice, but to buy a 3G model

I plan on keeping my 2G as an iPod for when my ship is out to sea. I may sell it by the end of the month, since I got a new one yesterday due to a faulty Altec Lansing dock shorted my last one out. Thank you Apple Warranty
