All my music/podcasts dissapeared!

Howdy!
So, yesterday I plugged in my 8gb iPhone to iTunes and it told me I had 1GB of photos and 5.5GB of 'Other'. I checked and my iPhone said it had no music.

Where did my music go? Anyone know how to fix?
I did some searching and the only way people have suggested is restoring. Will restoring my phone make me lose all my phone book contacts and sms's? Can I back up my apps somehow?

I'm having the same problem. All of my music and movies are gone but iTunes is still showing them like they are still there.

same for me no music or movies but I have 5gb on iTunes

Ok no music on iphone is the music in itunes if so check manualy load music then click apply, then uncheck it and a box will come up asking you if you still want to manualy load music on iphone click on ok and then it will sync music to iphone.

You're experiencing the authorization issue most likely, do AppStore apps not work for you either?

Try hooking the phone up to iTunes, doing what the other person suggested, uncheck sync, make sure everything's gone. If the AppStore apps aren't launching, unsync them too. Then go to the Store menu in iTunes and choose Authorize this machine, enter the password as appropriate, you'll get the authorization message. Then try syncing back media, then applications after.

Stuff should work and stay working then, hopefully.

I just authorized the computer like suggested and it started syncing everything again.

ssh then navigate thru var/mobile/media then delete itunes control then resync your music...

The issue is fixed in 2.1...
