Just looked on the o2 site and found this

PAYG
Pay & Go - iPhone - O2

Contract (sign up in store)
Iphone is free if you get £45 or £75 tariffs
Iphone is £99 if you get £35 or £30 tariffs
Pay Monthly - iPhone - O2

also you can trade in your old iphone for the new one (if you sign up for a new 18 month contract)
Existing iPhone Customers - iPhone - O2

seems pointless though becuase you could sell your old iphone for more than £99
