I had the same issue on a brand new 1.1.4 iPhone purchased in April. I wasn't sure if it was related to a "software" conflict or hardware. So I used bootneuter to upgrade baseband from 3.9 to 4.6, restored via iTunes, then I had to jailbreak, unlock & re-activate again. I still had the echo problem. I brought my phone back to the Genius bar & they also experienced the "echo". They replaced my phone & so far (Sat) I haven't had the same issue....I hope it is gone for good.

I have the echo problem too. I spoke to Att who said it sounds like a problem with the phone that's covered under warrenty. Another issue i have is that other people hear my call waiting... so clear they think they have another call.
Att told me that they would send me a new phone and I'd just have to send this one back.
My question: if i restore it and sent it back... will they know/give me an issue being that it was jailbroken/unlocked.
Through ziphone if that makes a difference
