iPhone loosing signal
My friend asked me to fix his iPhone which is constantly loosing signal of the provider. Usually it shows full signal and then it dissapears and it says "No service". And after a few seconds it will show full signal again. He is runnig 1.0.2 firmware. It does that with SIM cards of different providers, we tried T-Mobile, Vodafone and O2. I tried to restore the phone, didnīt help, so I reflashed the baseband and also with no succes. Wi-fi and everything else works fine...
Any idea what to do with this?
Thanks, samantha

In my experience the dreaded 'NO SERVICE' signal is a common problem to all iPhones, not just modded ones. Before I even hacked into mine I was having the same issue as I am now..a new sim card might solve it, but for now I just think it is a network problem...cheers!

can anyone share the cause and solution of this problem? my wife accidentally use the anysim1.1.1 in my 1.0.2firmware. So i lose my signal then i tried to install and use anysim1.0.2 and now it works. but normally my phone will loose a signal in the middle of my conversation. No service and my call ends. Then it will be like that in most of my call. LOSSING SIGNAL

Seems most of the people having problems with this are on 1.1.1. But my friendīs phone is 1.0.2 and it does the same... But what Iīve read so far, some people didnīt see it until they upgraded to 1.1.1. I am going to unlock some brand new 1.1.1 phones but I am thinking about downgrading them to 1.0.2 which seems more "stable".. .
Btw - do you guys have experince with anySIM 1.1? I used the old version twice on 1.0.2 and never worked.. It said "Unlock succesful", but SIM still didnīt work. Now Iīve read that some people have the same problem with 1.1 version. Donīt you know how to make it work? SIM without PIN, chmod to 775.. I tried both and didnīt work.. anything else?

I read some where to select Settings->General->Reset->Reset All Settings. Maybe that helps? For now, I'm sticking to my modded unlocked 1.0.2. Dreading "No Service" if I virginise and upgrade

I have had this problem for weeks, and finally worked out what is causing it. It's the Iphone's power management settings, and kicks in every few minutes of non activity.
What I did was SSH to /System/Library/SystemConfiguration/PowerManagement.bundle and renamed the 2 files to this:
'com.apple.SystemPowerProfileDefaults.plist2'
'PowerManagement1'
Rebooted the phone, and it everything working perfectly. No more loss of signal etc. Battery life doesn't seem to be affected that badly.
I am using firmware 1.1.2 , unlocked with IPSF.Last edited by cc5ak; 11-22-2007 at 10:37 AM.

is this happening only when inside a building?

this is happening inside and out. Seems like theres only a handful of people with this problem so I'll try my luck and exchanging my phone for another one, hopefully they'll have more 1.1.1 fw's in stock somewhere...

I've made the same changes to the 2 files on 3 other iPhones running firmware 1.1.1 and 1.1.2 and it worked on all of them. You can verify this is working by going into the Settings, Usage and your usage time and standby time should be the same regardless.
Also went as fas as deleting the 2 files and still works.
