Default Perform option-click restore of an unlocked 1.1.1
    Hello there,

I have been playing with my unlocked iPhone, which is version 1.1.1
It has been updated from 1.0.2, virginized and then updated to 1.1.1, then unlocked. I am installing and uninstalling applications and settings. At some point I may need to restore the iPhone. Can I do that in iTunes with the option click trick, in case it is already unlocked. I mean I know I can, but I am curious if it will be unlocked afterwards.
Some say it has no problem, others not. I am confused and I am constantly jumping to forums and threads.... and there is no certain answer for me.

Can you help me? PLease ))!

If you used IPSF then your unlocked state will last through a restore. I think this also holds true for AnySIM, but can't say for sure, didn't use that method. Anyone?
Get "iPod & iTunes for Dummies", it'll change your life.

    zimac,
you can restore to 1.1.1 with option click without problem. your sim will keep working, but you'll have to jailbreak the phone again. However, what I'm saying has been only tested with AnySim 1.1p; I don't know if this is true with other methods.

However do you think it is good to install oneSIM, then optionclick restore in iTunes and then unlock again with anySIM?

I verginized it the first time befre upgrading to 1.1.1
Then unlocked it and ever since it works ok.

You mean that the only thing i need to do is to perform option/click restore in iTunes?

Or I should verginize again? and then option/click to restore?

I could have been clearer. Its shift+click for windows, option+click for mac (i think)

I restored with option/click to 1.1.1. It went OK. And after jailbreakme.com it was unlocked again, like magic
    THANX for the support!

Default Trouble moving from virginized 1.0.2 to 1.1.1 restore
I've done the virginizing from this url:

    http://iphone.unlock.no/#how-to-virginize-easily

However, when I downloaded the 1.1.1 firmware file linked from that same page, OS X unizipped it. I rezipped it and tried option-click-restore and have been unsuccessful getting iTunes to restore it using either name:

    iPhone1,1_1.1.1_3A109a_Restore.ipsw
    iPhone1,1_1.1.1_3A109a_Restore.ipsw.zip

Each time iTunes gives me an error that 'the iphone "iphone" could not be restored. an unknown error occurred (1)'.

Is there a file within the unzipped folder that could resolve this problem? Do I need to redownload the iPhone1,1_1.1.1_3A109a_Restore.ipsw.zip file and somehow prevent OS X from unzipping it?

    Thanks,

    CM

Got it figured out. I had to disable auto unzipping of safe files in Safari. Redownloaded and it updated with the Option-click-Restore from iTunes. Then I just followed the instructions at:

    http://iphone.unlock.no/

Now I'm using T-Mobile once again with 1.1.1.
