I get upside down question marks on my SMS

So whenever someone sends me a text with different characters like underscore and dollar signs, it shows on my phone as an upside down question mark. Its really annoying. Anyone elses iPhone do this too? How do I fix this? Some one help please!!!

If it helps, I have a jailbroken iPhone unlocked with T-Mobile FW1.1.4

maybe its the person sending it to you..try send one to you self

yeah it might just be her cause i tried sending random characters to myself and it worked... i even had other people send me just random characters and it worked also.

i guess it only happens with that one person. she has a treo 650 with sprint btw so maybe it only happens with people sending me sms with treos??

some phone have like were you can have different symbols for texting..shes just twisting it up with you..

can anyone explain the real reason behind this?

seems like when people on other networks try to send me sms, using certain characters like $ or % or @ i get an upside down question mark. its been doin this for a very long time but is now starting to get annoying.
