8 digits phone number - HOW? HELP
In Costa Rica we have 8 digits phone number.
I just got my iPhone and managed to unlockit (thanks to this forum), next question is HOW or WHAT can I do, to make my phone accept 8 digit to dial.
When I dial 8 digits it takes the first 3 and converts them in to area code.
I am stuck.
Yes, I did setup the date and time for San Jose, Costa Rica
TIA
George
PS: I am almost done.....

Yeah, I am confused to. (I just found how "set it for Australia" they have also 8 digits)
And stuck in the mean time.
BTW: phone was bought in Texas, I just unlock it using iLiberty. Everything works except the 8 digit dialing.
I don't see where or how can I setup diferent ring tones either.
I have iTunes 7.5 on my PC, but when I click it doesn't open.
I haven't join any WiFi/ networks.
I don't see how/where I can back up or upload my contacts either.
Yes, I can receive phone calls.
Should I use this famous iPhone PC suite everybody raves about?
I still need help - almost works.
TIA
George

I don't think anyone knows what you're on about. You press the 8 numbers and then press 'call'. Right? It isn't rocket science

Thats not very helpful,isnt it?

Back to the thread:I dont understand the problem, you do NOT need to set up your phone I guess....
You just need to know the country codes...,for example in Russia we have 10dight mobile numbers,I can just simply call to that number with the code +7...

Area Code
Just change the area code to "Spanish --- Costa Rica" and that's it..

Sorry guys, where do I find the area code?
I only see: International>Region Format> (different countries, but Costa Rica is NOT listed.
I also found : Language> English, French, Dutch, Italian. Again NO Spanish
TIA
BTW: I know it shouldn't be a rocket science, but it's more complicated then you think.
Basically when I tried to call the 8 digits, after the 7 digits I mark the 8th digit, the phone takes automatically the first 3 digits and makes them as area code. Figure that out!
When I set it for Australia, I have no problem and can mark 8 digits and works.
I just don't like to have Australia, because Google and other stuff defaults for Ausies.
example: I Want to call: 88839393 I get (888) 39393Last edited by AXN; 05-26-2008 at 05:21 PM. Reason: more info

Did you get this fixed?
AXN,
I'm in CR as well and have exactly the same problem you describe. Did you find a good solution you can share?
Thx.
L.
