Default 5gb of "other" on iphone

    hi.
my iphone was working perfectly up until yesterday, i reformatted and reinstalled windows xp. when i installed itunes i said no to the "do you want to sync with this new library and erase all your stuff", but apparently it did SOMETHING.
i have 0 music listed, and in iTunes it says I have 5.12GB of "OTHER" on the phone and have no access to any music.
anyone else have this happen to them? how do i fix this? I really don't want to restore it because i have all of my icons and settings and springboard arrangements and programs and all that good stuff.

The problem is it somehow like lost my music but it's still on the phone because it's taken up. It just doesn't know it's there, or something. I'm not really sure.

Erase all content on your phone by going through settings, sync your iphone back to itunes when it's done to get back all your songs/vids/etc. All done.

Before erasing anything I'm just gonna try deleting the music off manually, that I think should work.

Worked perfectly, I'm the freakin' man.
