Help!!! Email Sent Copies Wont Go Away!!!

i still consider myself a newbie to this whole iphone world. however, i love it none the less. I successfully unlocked my phone, and love the sms/email interface. however, one gripe i have is i send out TONS of emails in a day, and when my email goes to auto check for any new mail (gmail account), it always shows me a new message, however this new message is a copy of a message i sent. how do i get rid of this?
the only messages i want to see are people who email me, not emails i send out!
