Going to buy the iphone today. couple questions

I was wondering... assuming that I end up with a older version say, 1.1.3 and i want to upgrade to 1.1.4. Do i have to activate the iphone first with libertyx or can I upgrade it without activation?

I am going to be using t-mobile service with it so I will be unlocking it with libertyx. I know if I unlock it I won't be able to upgrade unless I restore it. I did a search on this and I was still a bit confused as to how to restore. If I wanted to restore the iphone back to before it was unlocked, I would have to go to itunes and restore to 1.1.X version, right? Wouldn't this brick the phone then?

In your position, I would use get ahold of either winpwn, or pwnagetool and unlock from there, and if you happen to get a 1.1.3 phone, create a custom 1.1.4 ipsw file and load it on your phone from there.
