Thread: Turning off Edge?
07-29-2007, 05:16 PM #1Turning off Edge?
Is there any way to disable Edge so that you don't run up a hellacious data bill? On every other phone I've had, there was a setup screen for the data connection that I could go into and delete the profile for, but I can't find any similar function on the iPhone.
This might be important for anyone using an older SIM and therefore not using the iPhone data plan.

If you aren't running the iPhone data package then your lame.

I've got the data package, just thought I'd post that for anyone who doesn't.

You can find the APN settings in: /private/var/root/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/preferences.plist
Change them to something else and your EDGE connection will be broken. I've tried this on my iPhone and confirmed that it works. If you want to check your work, perform a baseband dump (press **5005*78283#-Call) and read the log file. More info on the baseband dump is here:
