Strange Signal Fault
Firstly can i just say what a great and informative site this is

I have a slight problem with my new iphone. After using ziphone i reboot the phone and it gets a good signal on Orange. Then within 1 minute the signal drops to zero but the Orange logo is still visable. However it is impossible to make a phone call. The only way to get the signal back again is to put the sim card in a different phone, switch it on and let it find a signal then remove it and put it back in the iphone. When rebooted i can again get a signal for about a minute and then the same problem.
Now i have found a temp cure that works. If i boot the iphone up after having the simcard in another phone and make a call straight away then it keeps the signal. I usually let the call run for about 10 mins. After this the phone is fine until you have to reboot it or switch it off.
Has anybody come across the same fault or has anybody got any ideas please?
Thanks in advance,
Mick
edit: i should maybe add that it is running 1.1.4.Last edited by Mental_Mick; 04-28-2008 at 05:08 PM. Reason: Extra info

Just a quick update on my problem.
Today the phone must have lost service whilst i was in a meeting (bad signal area) and would not find a signal again afterwards. I again had to remove the sim, put it in another phone and get a signal, put it back in my iphone and make a call again straight away. I left the call open for just over 20 mins and it has been fine since. It did loose service for a few minutes earlier in a bad area but then found it again on its own.
Can anybody please help as this is driving me bonkers.

I think you might have to DFU restore.

I have tried the ordinary restore through itunes but it made no difference. Is there something else that happens during the restore if you put it in DFU mode first?
Have you come across a similar problem before?
The phone has now been running fine for 2 days with a full signal most of the time but i daren't reboot it because i'm sure the signal will go again.

Um install ziphone and put it in DFU mode using that and restore.

I actually used ziphone to originally jailbreak and activate the phone. Does itunes not put it in DFU mode to do the restore?
Sorry for all the questions.
I have just done this and it has made no difference. If i don't use the phone to make a call straight away then the signal goes and won't come back again until the sim is put in another phone. It just shows 1 bar and the Orange logo but i can't call or text etc.
Has anybody please got any more ideas? Could this be a bootloader issue as it was downgraded by ziphone?
Thanks,
