SMS gone...? second time...

Okay so this is the second time that I get a text message and when I enter the SMS application all texts are gone.. off course it pisses me off! the first time I thought ohh well one form of spring cleaning but this is the second time and now its just annoying!!! anyone experienced similar problems and has found a solution?

Bump . . . This Just started happening to me as well on 1.1.4 , I've had it happen twice as well, I was Just about to Restore when I read your Post m8.
Anybody else know a solution for this irritating issue ?

hey mates,

It happened to me twice. As i was searching for the issue; i found that maybe the app fring conflicts somehow with the sms database. Exactly when you are online and a new sms comes - you try to read, or exit it - then your sms.db will be corrupt. Does anyone of you have fring on your iPhones? Also as i read i found out that if you uninstall fring your sms will shown up again but i didn't test it on my iPhone because after this strange problem i am weekly making backups of my sms through Time-Capsule.

yes I have frng installed! Just deleted it and the texts did not come back! Restarted twice too. Only reason why I want to keep fringe is because of the aim service! It will actually stay online while the application is minimized. Apollo didn't do that, so until I find the trillian/fring/adium for the iPhone I guess I will have to accept that the SMS are gone weekly!!

Why would fring interrupt the SMS.db though? Fring is wifi calling and aim no texting?

Hey lillewis51,

would you mind performing the following steps if interested to see if that is the reason for this error to come up..

Start fring and connect to one of the services (ex. aim) chat with an individual then receive a text message and hit the reply button on the notification. if all goes well then nothing should happen. but then again I dont want you to lose any of your messages!

i don't know the real reason; why it corrupts the sms.db! i want fring also for skype and msn so until they figure out im afraid that we have to backing up our sms.db :P A friend of me with fring until now he didn't experience this problem but maybe he didn't come opposite the situation online/sms etc. Well a brave one must test it :P eheheh.

I have the same problem. I had it twice when I was on 1.02 with fring installed and now am on 1.1.4 with fring installed and it happened once. What about weTool? I thought that is also the reason. I'm not sure though.

This only started to go wrong this week, it has been on 1.1.4 since it came out, so don't know what has changed. Did a master reset (delete everything) and reloaded apps - OK so far.

hmm so we have a partial confirm and a partial denial that it either is or is not fring ...
well that narrows the problem down

Out of the applications you posted I have

Standard Setup
Pool
Tetromino
SMBPrefs
Installer
Five Dice

but in regards to texting, I only have SMSD and the standard SMS software. I am just trying to create a procedure where I know that all my texts will disappear. have a way of getting there.. I am hoping that that will narrow the problem down because right now I have not found the hole in my sinking ship :/

so far I have not lost any texts... but then again fring is not installed..
guess Ill wait till monday..
