Question - Wifi Name Resolution (wins/netbios) setup?

First I would like to thank you ahead of time for any help on this problem I am facing.

I did a search first and must not be looking for the right keyword. I am a n00b here, so appologies if this is not the right area in the forum, or wrong site alltogether.


My problem is: When connected to wifi (802.11x), I want to be able to access my iphone by hostname and not have to lookup the IP everytime. Primarily for connecting to my iphone via it's Apache website and for SSH to it.


My question is: Is there a way to configure this? If not is there an App that sets this up?


My discoveries thus far: My router shows when my iphone grabs it's DHCP lease... it doesn't use any particular name when registering it's lease. Additionally, when I am SSH connected to my iphone... the "hostname" request shows "Greg's iphone", this name doesn't respond on network either.

Any ideas please?
