Getting the most songs on a Iphone

Does anybody know the way to get 1500 songs on a 8gb Iphone? My phone is jail broken has customize and a few games amounting to about 200 mb. I can only fit 900 songs on it. Is there a setting or a certain file type to be using. Are songs like pictures, where you can set the clarity of the picture to determine how many pictures fit on a camera mem card? Thanks in advance

Using files with a lower bitrate will make them smaller, but will compromise the quality.
