Thread: Ubuntu on iPhone?

    Default Ubuntu on iPhone?
I was just thinking about this today...

But would it be possible to somehow port a distribution of linux onto the phone?

This news may have come and gone already, or it may have been deemed impossible, but I would think it would be pretty simple to somehow wipe the iPhone operating system on a jailbreaked phone and install Ubuntu in its stead.

The hardest part would probably be trying to get multi-touch to play nice.

    any thoughts?

How cool would that be. No clue if it is at all do-able, but I'd think so actually. I'd imagine that, yea, multi-touch would be difficult to work with, and also the phone-ness.. It has to do with the SIM card and baseband and stuff... Probably all just a matter of drivers for the multi and the phone stuff. I wouldn't expect to see this anytime soon. Who knows what the future holds though?

Next to nothing there now, just some good info. I check up on the progress. Can't wait for this.
