SMS issue. Some message don't show the timestamp.
People,
If this topic already exists, please guide me in the right direction; I searched the forum for it and didn't find anything.
The problem is with the SMS conversations. I start a conversation and this is what happens:
1. SMS to friend. My SMS shows a timestamp on top.
2. SMS from friend. No timestamp on top.
3. SMS to friend. No timestamp on top.
4. SMS from friend. Timestamp on top.
5. SMS to friend. Timestamp on top.
6. And so forth (they appear randomly).
The conversation is sorted the right way; that's not my issue. But I've been wondering why the messages get a timestamp on top of them randomly. Shouldn't all the messages get one? Is there a fix for this?
Thanks!Last edited by cvilla; 04-22-2008 at 08:34 AM.

Hey.
It isn't a bug. iPhones don't show timestamps if the messages are very close apart. (ie. if you start a conversation and the person replies almost immediately, only the timestamp for the first message will be shown. However if there is a considerable amount of time between each message, it will show the timestamp)
Does this answer your question? When I said that I was 'king of forwards', you got to understand that I don't come up with this stuff. I just forward it along. You wouldn't arrest a guy who was just passing drugs from one guy to another?

Interesting; don't like it, though.
Do you know the minimum threshold for this? I think I'm gonna have to find out if there's a plist with a setting for it.
Thank you!Last edited by cvilla; 04-22-2008 at 10:34 AM.

if you download one of the many 3rd party SMS apps they usually show every timestamp.
iEat. iSleep. iPhone.

If i am not wrong every fifteen minutes there is a timestamp for example if you text somone the first text sent/recieved there is a timestamp so if you text somone at 4:00, at 4:15 the first text sent/recieved after that will have a timestamp but its not fifteen minutes from the first text its just every fifteen minutes of the hour.
I hope that made sense

Is there anyway to modify this and get a timestamp on every sms?
This is very annoying. Being a palm user, I myself am used to having the option to see the time on ever sms :-(
