iTunes Cannot Sync Mail and iPhone Mail Keeps Crashing
I just restored my iphone and when I am syncing it keeps giving me this error message "iTunes could not sync mail accounts to the iPhone because the iPhone canceled the sync". It synced my photos, songs, and calendar just fine. And when i click on the mail application on my iphone it opens and then shuts down. What should I do?
iPhone: 8gb
Firmware: 1.1.4
iTunes: 7.6.2
Computer: Mac OS X Leopard
**nevermind, i found the solution on the apple site forums.mods can close this thread**Last edited by jlwhite; 04-20-2008 at 03:56 PM.

Restore and set up your iPhone as new. Make sure you have your contacts backed up to Outlook or Yahoo first because you will lose everything.
Apples taste good.

Don't restore from backup when iTunes presents you with that option. I've had this problem in every update since 1.1.1.
Set it up as a new phone, just make sure your contacts are backed up.

check that /var/mobile/Library/Mail is set as 775... mine wasn't, so mobile wasn't able to write it.
I can now check my mail and sync without crashing.

If you have something like file commander, it can set permissions.
otherwise you will have to ssh into your iphone
i just made my Mail dir owned by mobile, which also worked

Fixed mine with Bossprefs' "Fix User Dirs".
