    Default Iphone in Canada: WHAT?
This is what I found earlier today on Engadget and if its true, the price is WAY too much. How can they even think of charging that price ($800) when the phone itself in the states is not even that much. Post your thoughts and comments

That will be the no plan purchase cost. The whole plan is to make it more attractive by purchasing the iPhone at a reduced rate by signing up for a 2 or 3 year plan. All Wireless companies do it. For instance, the Treo in Canada is $499.99 if you buy it without a plan, with a plan it's $149.99

The price is so high for the iPhone, because Rogers (the eventual carrier) knows that people will want to buy an iPhone cheap on a contract plan, then simply cancel to get the phone itself. The fact that Rogers early cancellation fee is $400 would make this even out to the $800 no plan purchase price. Making this option very, unattractive.

Ye thats what Im thinking of also, that the cost is the phone itself. No idea what the contract terms would bring the price down to. Probably no less than 500. This is again, Rogers shafting us.

when the phone sells for less than half that price in the states, its worth the drive across the border to get one and unlock it. especially with the dollar so high right now, you actually get it for cheaper than americans....hahaha glad to have duped apple and the U.S.!!!
