Just got my iPhone on Monday, unlocked it and loving it. I have an Alpine car stereo that came with the cable to connect iPods and iPhones. That's working great.

Default Does cable connection to car stereo charge the iPhone?
Just got my iPhone on Monday, unlocked it and loving it. I have an Alpine car stereo that came with the cable to connect iPods and iPhones. That's working great. But does it charge the iPhone, too? I haven't been able to tell yet, but maybe someone out there knows.

    Thanks in advance.

Yeah, it does charge it, but even with my brand new JVC with full iPod support, the unit cannot READ from the iPhone. Only the iPod. Stupid, but true....

Charges just fine on my Alpine, though iPhone calls the head unit unsupported hardware and wants to run in airplane mode. I suggest doing that as it cuts down on the amount of 'static' on the audio out signal.

I don't wanna turn on airplane mode because I need to receive incoming calls. My audio is just fine. But you guys answered my questions, thanks.
