Thread: What would brick an iPhone?

Ive had my iPhone since it came out. Still running 1.0.2 firmware with full mods. Im just curoius how iPhones get "bricked"? what do people mess up to make that happen? Is it just the upgrade to 1.1.1 that does it?

Phones get bricked when you goof up while Unlocking the phone or if you use anySIM v1.0.2/iUnlock for unlocking your v1.0.2 phone and then you upgrade to v1.1.1

I don't know, I've heard of a bunch of people claiming they hadn't unlocked and others hadn't even modded that got bricked. I haven't found any consistent story... either people aren't telling the truth or there is a small percentage of iPhones really getting bricked randomly and not related to AppTapp at all.
That's all I'm running - AppTapp on 1.0.2 and no unlock.
I haven't decided yet if I want to roll the dice on 1.1.1 and maybe get the better stability and the few new features yet. Maybe when AppTapp is 'one-click' install again like on 1.0.2 I might try that again as well. The supposed voiding of the warranty thing is really annoying though.
I've already had one iPhone replaced under warranty (before I modded) and it would have REALLY sucked to have been told at that time I'd voided the warranty. Obviously I would have restored it prior to returning but what if you CAN'T restore it?

Yeah, Im not going to do any updates to 1.1.1 yet. Most of the people that I have talked to said it started after the new firmware update or simply because they messed up the jailbreak process.
