maybe a stupid question, but apple says, only an activated iPhone has warranty.

Could this case happen?:

If the iphone donīt detect the sim card and tell me that there is no sim card installed, I am not able to activate the iphone and canīt get warranty?

Is that right or did I misunderstood something?
