Default US phone heading to Europe

    Hey guys/gals,
I’m going to Europe for a month this summer and would like to take my phone. Mostly I’d like to be able to use google maps on the fly, so I don’t get lost.
My plan was just to buy a prepaid sim for whatever country I was in and swap it. I tried searching but could not find the answer.
Will this work? Can a US phone work in Europe? Will our Heroes arrive in time to save the city?
    I don't know.
    Thanks!

Yes, your phone will work in Europe. The googlemaps feature might not work. unless you sign up for a plan there and get gprs or edge coverage. When you swap a sim you must enter the carrier settings to have internet functionality.
It all depends. I would definitely look around for answers on the forum though.
