try DFU mode even though nothing is showing up.

    Plug into computer
Hold power and home for 10 seconds (count out loud calmly)
let go of power still holding home count to 15
let go and try to restore. (if itunes lets you it's on but in DFU mode and the black screen is normal)

Watch a YouTube video of how to get in DFU to restore. The screen is supposed to remain off, thats what DFU is. From the mode you should be able to restore to 3.2.1 or whatever firmware that you want (granted you have your SHSH on file with cydia, and have your hosts file modded).
And it will be like a taco inside a taco within a Taco Bell that's inside a KFC that's within a mall that's inside your dream! Springboard screwy after reboot? Here is the fix

It's supposed to remain BLANK !!! It's NOT supposed to turn on.

However, IF it can be restored the computer WILL recognize it ---- even with a blank screen!!!!!

If you're doing it right ..AND.. no hardware problem ... it will work!!

mes, no offense, but i think youre wrong. i looked at youtube vids on how to dfu and restore. NOWHERE did i see an ipad NOT remain blank for long periods of time. when dfu or restore was attempted in the youtube vids, there was a blank screen then an image of a cable and disc. so youre wrong.. again, im saying this out of respect.

There are two low-level recovery methods. One is called restore and the other is called DFU. That all I'll say about it.

Best to take it back to Apple.
