Yea being as he cut less supremes dash is smaller , you would need a custom housing in order to house the iPad. It would be a rather interesting project indeed. I have a friend in brooklyn at makes them...hmmm

I actually went to home depot and bought plexiglass, U shaped aluminum piece. I cut the plexiglass to iPad size along with the aluminum pieces, then riveted everything together. Then i drilled a hole for the headphone jack for my auxiliary. And then riveted 2 L brackets to the back of the entire bracket which slides into the sides of my factory Mercedes deck and viola! Dosnt move around when you turn. The angle is adjustable as well. If anyone wants to see how it looks let me know ill post pictures and instructions :-)

That's awesome. I did something similar with a carpc but it was a whole lot more involved but now that iPads exist I think I'm going to do something like this.

Not to sound like a hater but a) youre going to kill your iPad after a few summer days cooking in your car. b) what good does it do in the car? This is as convenient as an old cellphone that got built into the car.Lightning from the Sky - Thunder from the Sea

i was curious if the install in the mercedes was with the command removed. then you just installed with a power cord and a audio cord out to speakers with a separate amp system or left in the command and set the ipad in front of the command to have the system use the command for the amp etc. and i guess the steering wheel control do not work unless you left in the command and are using the extra button on the command to drive the sound thru the speakers? my mercedes has the audio input in the glove box so i could hook up ipad or iphone for input. but did you have to keep the command in the system? mounting pics would be nice and a little info about the interface with the existing command would be interesting also.
