This is one of the reasons I returned mine. Not just youtube, but it was dropping my wifi connection randomly.
i went out and got a really fast router first to test it and was getting 10mbps on my laptop with it, but the ipad would still do the same thing.

I'm having the same problem. You tube videos take forever to load on my iPad!!!!!!
My iPhone 3GS loads a hell of a lot faster using the same router.
What's up with this? It's just not normal!!

I am having the same issue. I was hoping somebody has resolved the problem in the last few months. It makes no difference whether the iPad is on wifi or 3G. Also, no wifi connection problems and speed tests are through the roof. iPhone has no issue with YouTube videos either. Strictly the iPad. Web browsing is also snappy.

Stop changing routers & evrything else!
Its nothing to do with all those things.
I have already posted the solution for this on another section.
But here we go again.
Just follow these steps,it worked for me.
Here is the solution to make YouTube work great!
Connect to Wifi
Go to "settings"
Tap the blue arrow on the side
Change your DNS to 188.8.131.52,184.108.40.206
YouTube is fixed!!!
Let me know if it works.
P.S: Make sure you delete the existing DNS and type in the ones I gave you. Type them on the iPad exactly as I have seperated by a coma.

if someone needs to change to OpenDNS in order to use the youtube app properly, I would think that indicates a problem with their ISP's DNS servers. If I found changing to OpenDNS as mentioned above (strictly as a workaround / test) resolves the issue (or any internet related issue for that matter), I would be extremely vocal to AT&T or whomever the provider is to fix their DNS..

I wouldn't be happy about paying an ISP for service which included access to a broken DNS Server... just sayin'
