okay so the ipad runs iphone apps. what about the apps that were downloaded through a source besides the app store? in other words, what about pirated apps? will those work on this thing? or the apps that have been downloaded through cydia such as backgrounder? does anyone know if apps like that will run on the ipad? will we have to wait until it's released to the public for answers? and are the people who find the exploits and release software like blackra1n and pwnage tool really going to be as bad as corporations today and wait to release what information they have until it's benefitial to them in some way?

What do you mean by beneficial to them? It's beneficial to all of us.
1) jailbreak developers like blackra1n and pwnage tool don't make any $$ for doing it.
2) if jailbreak for ipad is released before 4.0 it will give apple a chance to switch things up on security on the release of 4.0

Don't pirate apps. Simple. He who asks a question looks foolish for 5 minutes. He who doesn't ask a question remains foolish forever.

No one knows what will run on the iPad because no one owns it right now. Also, let the discussion of cracked/pirated apps out of the discussion...
