Default Newd WW City + AltLoc V3
Okay modder extraordinaires, budding coders and noobs alike..,
I'm a forever 'tweaker' when it comes to something I've created... As I traveled this weekend I noticed yet another way the XML file reports city data where city and extraLocCity are the same and extraLocNeighborhood = < n u l l >. This seems to be for when you're in center of a smaller city(large town) that in most states in the US are called "Boroughs, Towns or Municipalities". When you're in these larger areas (but not in a huge city like Philly with actual neighborhoods) you are not really in a 'township' - but rather are considered in one of the above-mentioned.

So I wrote another subroutine in my auto-infer code to account for that case when you use my method rather than Dacal's -- which adds another option to, on Line 2, display the words "the Borough", "in Town" or "the Municipality" chooseable when you set up the iWidget in the Options page -- so something like:
    Phoenixville
    the Borough

This will work as you set it when in a Borough, Larger Town or Municipality regardless of what you've set for the "Use Township Label" option. I would just leave that one on for you folks that travel in rural/suburban areas of the US as whenever you're not in a larger town or major city - you are likely gonna be in a township. But I leave it's default setting to off so you can choose.

Cleaned up some other code to make it read easier in iFile and on Computer - and incorporated The_Durben's clean up for me that doesn't add an unnecessary Update Time Interval option. So that's gone now. THANKS, D!!!!

I will start generating some XML's from WOEID's in Europe and Asia - to see how my Line 2 coding will work when not in US. Maybe there are some unique things I can add for those NOT in the US. For those in the US I'm pretty satisfied with all this auto-infer code does.

    Enjoy!

RKO's question is a good one. But it's also possible that you're just experiencing what a lot of folks experience with Yahoo weather conditions when you're in a suburb close to a large city. Yahoo's not accurate in those cases. In my small town today - it's stormy and raining constantly. My hometown (at Yahoo's site on the web and on my phone widgets) reports just Partly Cloudy... NOT!! As soon as I set my widgets to a WOEID in Philadelphia - then the weather reports Rain With Thunder - which is exactly what's happening here. Is North Carona within 30 miles of a larger city? If so - set your widget to to a WOEID of that city -- and you'll get the right weather.. It's a pain.. But it's how I have to live.. I have a city iWidget I created based on WW that gives me the right city as I travel right near home.. But all my weather animation widgets are set to a WOEID for Center City Philly.

Or if it eventually updates -- it's just part of this bug they're trying to find in the update time. It gets stuck sometimes with WW set to constant.

Had this beast for a weekend when I was in California a few years ago, drove it to Las Vegas, good on straight roads but horribly in towns, I could hardly steer it in sharp corners LOL.. I do love power though, and this thing had highly tuned 1300cc of it!

OK, back on topic I guess LOL..

Yeah M8, I just got a small XR200 at home (that's it in photo below), really great fun but not enough power (it's never enough power LOL).

Better get back on topic before I get some stick LOL...

    That's a sweet ride!

Most just don't realize how difficult some of those custom bikes can be to drive locally. But I agree, on the hiway, they are a dream.

Was that a true rigid frame? They can be rough on the back. I can't do a rigid anymore, too old!

I have an idea that is far beyond my skill set, so I figured I'd run it by everyone here. A notification center widget to switch the location update settings of WidgetWeather. I seem to have a significant battery drain when in constant even when I stay in one place, in manual I'm fine. The switch would be an easy way to resolve this. Of course I understand WidgetWeather is still in beta and I hope this is known/fixable. Don't know if anyone is willing to take on the task, but it would be appreciated, probably by a lot of us.

I tried using an Activator gesture to open WW quickly - but for some reason it just brings up a screen that says "Welcome to Widget Weather" but then stays on that screen and never opens the controls screen. Hmm.. I wonder what that's about?

An Activator gesture wound essentially do what you're asking. But Activator and WW don't seem to work well together.

I don't really know, but wouldn't a simple NC toggle be easier on the developers involved?

Do you have "Weather Widget" turned on in notification center, as this will do exactly that. Then when you set WW to manual, just pull down NC and allow the weather to update.

Where can we turn it on? There is nothing in my widget weather settings and neither in notifications center settings.

Hmm.. Just checked - but Widget Weather isn't listed as something turn-on-able in the Notifications System window.

    Go into settings -> notifications
Look for Weather Widget not Widget Weather and turn on so that when you pull down NC, you get your weather.
