    Yeah.. I reread my post this morning and even I thought.. " WHAT THE HELL does THAT mean..,,!???

    Sorry about that.. It's in my setup to the actual question for the info I need that can get lost in the trees.

    A simpler more direct question should have read:

    "Does the tweak update the Extra Location data with a separate subroutine than it does the main city data?" - I'm observing them to be written to the XML at different times.

    Clearer question?
    Way less words?

    LOL!! Yeah.. I guess not....

    Well - I'm a detail guy and a well-asked technical question, in my work over the years, I've learned, is about giving sufficient background info. But my original question wasn't worded too round-about..

    The Extra Location data has its own switch in the tweak.. That's what leads me to believe they're handled as separate subroutines and potentially separate update timings. In the WW widgets I'm using the XML is definitely getting the main data and Extra Location data at different times. I just want to know if it's by design or a bug. That's all.

    It's just some switches M8, same sort of thing you could have in the Config.js file, everything updates at the same time.

    Code:
    // MAIN INFORMATIONS
    		var cityname = obj.city;
    		switch (UseExtraLocation) {
    			case "city":
    			if ((obj.extraLocCity != null) && (obj.extraLocCity != "")) { cityname = obj.extraLocCity; }
    			break;
    			case "neighborhood":
    			if ((obj.extraLocNeighborhood != null) && (obj.extraLocNeighborhood != "")) { cityname = obj.extraLocNeighborhood; }
    			else if ((obj.extraLocCounty != null) && (obj.extraLocCounty != "")) { cityname = obj.extraLocCounty; }
    			break;
    		}

    Actually, based on the way that the info is gathered, I believe that it is possible for this to happen. But I would like to see if Durben feels the same way on this.

    No, Ian.. I'm not talking about the timing of widgets getting info from the XML.. I'm talking about the timing of the tweak writing to the XML certain data.

    When on Constant or Semi and Neighborhood Location is toggled on I have not seen a delay on additional location info. (Besides a few seconds delay for an iWidget on springboard compared to a lock screen) (locks check again on unlock/lock, iWidget sticks with the 20 second interval checking the xml)

    The only time I've seen a delay in the extra location info changing is when Fixed is selected.
    The locks or widgets using main name/city change right away to your set woeid and weather info for it.
    The extra location information doesn't change until the next refresh of the xml. (Something to do with the tweak sending that woeid back to get additional location info for that woeid and then updating it)
    On fixed this shouldn't be an issue as your telling the widgets what city you want to see and you get that city.

    Sorry if I didn't get what was being asked, it's early and I'm confused

    Default Auto-Detect Large City Neighborhood names
    For those of you, in the US, who would like to add another choice in Dacal/Ian's 'UseExtraLocation' variable in the config.js of any mod - where Dacal's code is used. I adapted the 'auto-detection' of the neighborhood of a large city from my City/AltLoc iWidget to be used in UniAW based widgets in place of the main city name whenever you enter a large city.

    So if you're traveling in the suburbs - the tweak very accurately reports city/town names to the XML. But then when you enter a large city - with the UseExtraLocation variable set to "default" - you'll just keep getting" New York City, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Miami, etc. - no matter where you drive in the city. It's in large cities where the "neighborhood' field in the XML comes in handy. And wouldn't it be nice if the city name in your widgets could 'auto-detect' that.. Well it can. With this code.

    Find this in UniAW6.js or the main.js of any Dacal/Ian based widget.

    Code:
    // MAIN INFORMATIONS
    var cityname = obj.city;
    switch (UseExtraLocation) {
    case "city":
    if ((obj.extraLocCity != null) && (obj.extraLocCity != "")) { cityname = obj.extraLocCity; }
    break;
    case "neighborhood":
    if ((obj.extraLocNeighborhood != null) && (obj.extraLocNeighborhood != "")) { cityname = obj.extraLocNeighborhood; }
    else if ((obj.extraLocCounty != null) && (obj.extraLocCounty != "")) { cityname = obj.extraLocCounty; }
    break;
    Now simply add these lines of code after the final "break; " above:
    Code:
    case "auto":
    if ((obj.extraLocNeighboorhood != "") && (obj.extraLocNeighborhood != obj.city)) { cityname = obj.extraLocNeighborhood; }
    else  { cityname = obj.city; }
    break;
    Then in the config.js of the same widget, where you can choose "default", "city" or "neighborhood" - just use the variable "auto". And then the autodetection should happen for you.

    Now I'm pretty sure I nailed that code.. If I haven't - King or Durben or Ian or Dacal will scream "NOW WAIT, GRANT! SIMMER DOWN - DON'T HURT YOURSELF"... LOL!!!!

    It's worked for me on the computer.. Will check on phone now too..

    So setting the config.js to "auto" would have you get 'White Plains' if you're driving through suburban New York State.. But if you were in New York City - your city would auto detect the section of the city, like: Financial District, Queens, Bronx, etc..

    Have fun... I know I am - starting to get a handle on some basic java coding..

    EDITED:
    Okay - works on phone too. The only thing left for me to conquer is for the case when the 'extraLocNeighbordhood' line in the XML returns a N U L L. I'm having troublew ith an IF ELSE statement searching for N U L L. But I'll get it..

    It only works for US cities as I mention in the post. Where are you RKO? And did you put the word "auto" in ExtraLocation?

    The only problem I'm having is for cases where extraLocNeighborhood = .. Then city comes up blank using my code. I can fix that..
