5.0.1 Battery Fix Based on 5.1?
The dilemma of the jailbroken 4S user is that in order to keep your device free and open you must deal with subpar battery life.
Battery life is allegedly improved on 5.1 but as we know, there is no known jailbreak for 5.1 and, judging by the complexity of the multi-exploit Absinthe, there may not be one for quite some time.
My question is, now that 5.1 has been released, has anyone been able to pinpoint the exact modifications made in 5.1 to improve the battery? More importantly, could these modifications be retrofitted on 5.0.1 devices by simply modifying or replacing certain files?

There have been some Battery Fixes packages on cydia, but I don't know if they really work as I dont have a 4S. You could give them a try tho

The battery fix that was released on a certain illicit repo turned out to be a hoax seemingly intended to drum up "premium" memberships. The only thing I've noticed on my 4S while playing with the 'top' command is that 'locationd' seems to be pretty actively sucking up CPU, even when location services are completely disabled. However, upon disabling this daemon, battery life became even worse.
I suppose one could attempt to somehow get hold of the locationd daemon present in the 4S version of 5.1 and replace the 5.0.1 version with it. Could be risking a restore, though.

That is a little strange. I do notice better battery life unjailbroken though (I had the misfortune of getting my iPhone 4S stolen jailbroken with all my favorite tweaks at 5.0.1 and the new one came with 5.1 T_T). I really never understood these "battery issues" in the firmwares, it just seems like a bunch of people not understanding different things can make the battery die quicker, that the drainage isn't fixed. And maybe your wife uses her iPhone more? Keeping the screen on longer can make the battery drain very quickly, especially with my iPad 3 (Still love it though, using it to post this ;p)

read here:

some people were to excited about the "battery issue" on 5.1 that they sacrificed their jailbreak of 5.0.1 and updated to 5.1, "some" experience some battery improvements but a lot did not notice much difference at all
