modifying my app

I just got this game/app and wanted to mess around with some values:

I found (what appears to be) the save data
I found what I want to change (if you look at the link, each value will be obvious)

but there's a checksum, or something of the sort that will cause the game to reset if any changes are made!

I'll do some more googling, but i can't figure out how they calculated the checksum for the file, and WinSCP refuses to calculate it (The checksum of the file)

Edit: I managed to kill my save data. There appears to be another check somewhere else in the app as once i started a new game, it refused to accept the valid save file in the pastie link.

PS. The game is "Armies of Darkness: Defense", I want to modify the gold without having to buy it for actual money.
