Ok so I edited a file to be able to have animated boot logos on my iphone 3gs 32gb running 4.2.1 jailbroken. It worked fine but after I installed a boot logo through cydia, it restarted and it would just keep rebooting... I used redsn0w as a last resort thinking it would restore everything to factory settings, but when it finished the jailbreak it was back to normal with all my files.
When I opened cydia I noticed that my sources were there but my packages were not showing even thought they are still on my phone. I was thinking that I could ssh into the phone and find were all these packages are saved to so I could list them all and redownload them, havent found that location yet...
Where are the cydia packages downloaded to? or What can I do to restore cydia's packages?
Download BackToDeb from cydia. It helps take all currently installed packages back to deb state (which can be reinstalled at later date). This is a way to at least backup your packages.
I'm unsure as to why they wouldnt appear, but often Cydia requires a full reinstall (ie re-jailbreak). Annoying but often the case. If that happens, use backtodeb to save packages to ur PC, saves finding them all again.
Thanks, but i tried that and it only backed up 1 repo icons package and the backtodeb package... I guess it only backs up the packages available in cydia.
Does anyone know where cydia packages are installed on the iphone? because i wouldnt mind going there, listing all my packages and re-downloading them, just havent found that location.
