Whats best way, to free up system memory?
My iPhone 4 has plenty of system storage free but my iPhone 3GS system memory is getting full. What's the best way to free it up? Getting rid of themes? Or just parts of themes, not used? Apps? All those extra language packs, other than English? Other?
Cydia has been pumping out some awesome tweaks & downloads! I use a lot of them like lockinfo, activator, adblocker, autoresponder, etc. etc. etc. I love em all & don't want to start removing any, if there's another way to free up the system ram. Thx,

Cool suggestions, it's all English in 'da house! Lol, thx.
Also, if I delete all the extra language packs. Then make a backup & restore that backup on my other iPhone that's JB'd exactly the same. Do u know if they will be removed on the other iPhone?
Or do I need to go through the other iPhone & delete the language packs seperatly?

Where are the language packs located? And can I just go through iFile and just delete them, probably best to rename them......

I just deleted any extra language packs in /System/Library section, with iFile. I deleted all of them except the English US & I did not delete any other files in each language pack folder. I left the "Code Sources" folder, "English US" folders & any other files in each folder. Just go into each folder with language packs, hit edit in top right & tap/hold the first file so action menu comes up. Tap "select all" then de-select the Code sources, English US & anything else in the folder that's NOT a language pack. Most of the folders had 33 "OTHER" languages, packs. When u hit the trash button, if more then 33 items r to be deleted, tap cancel & find any "Sounds, Support or other" files that r NOT language packs. Like I said earlier, 90% of the folders containing language packs I deleted 33 different language packs & DID NOT delete the A) Code sources. B) English US. C) any other files at bottom or mixed in with the language packs like "Sounds or Support."
This freed up a LOT of "SYSTEM" memory, along with a few unused Cydia packages. On 3 separate iPhones, 2 3GS' & an iPhone 4, I freed up around 100 MB's of system memory on each iPhone! For the iPhone 4 it was good but on both the 3GS' it was HUUUUUGE!
Wow, I'll post the #'s soon!

Gracios amigo & merci beaucoup! Oh wait I can't use that kind of language anymore, it's only ENGLISH US left, LOL,
Thanks for the suggestion, it worked AWESOME!

This is not what I'm looking for, I can temporarily free up memory by terminating processes with SBSettings toggle. I'm talking about actually deleting useless files via ifile, to increase the amount of free system memory. Thanks anyways, but with Cydia u can do everything that $1.99 app can do, for free.

I explained it in detail in my 3rd post, in this thread. "ANY" language packs in /System via iFile.
Although I've found a very easy way to do this by adding a "repo" in Cydia sources, I don't think I can say the name of the repo but if u Google "lang2ez" u will find out which repo to add. The "lang2ez" tweak instantly deletes all unnecessary /System language pack files, other then Japanese, emoji & English-US. It works good, I think the tweak lang2ez is legit but most of the repo has "OTHER" stuff, which prevents me from mentioning their name directly. If this says to much, then to any mod please remove or warn me. Although I don't think I'm breaking any rules, suggesting what to Google as I found the same info here myself.

There's also a tweak called "syspartition" which moves some /system files to /var. This freed up almost another 100 MB's of /System space, also available in that repo. Although it has a warning & seems experimental, I have only tried it on one of my old 3GS' & it has not caused problems, as of yet.

I found a very good thread on ModMyi, for freeing up system memory. Search here on ModMyi "free up system memory" & scroll down to a thread titled "[LIST] Language Packages to Delete on 3.0 :: Increased Performance (375)" it has great info & it's where I found the suggestion on page #19 to Google "lang2ez" for the repo.
