so whats the deal i have never used an iphone 4 before now and i havent the slightest clue where the springboard icons are kept in an HD theme for the iphone 4...
simple question someone please help me out. in a theme for my iphone 3gs its just as simple as a folder called icons.. but that folder doesnt exist in any theme ive seen for hd devices. PLEASE HELP ME IS GOTTA BE A SIMPLE ANSWER PEOPLE!!!
Most HD themes use the bundles method. It's faster than the old way, and clears up conflicts that sometimes happened when two apps had the same name, but it's a little more work. Basically you will find a folder called bundles inside a theme. Inside bundles, each and every app that is themed has it's own folder named with the apps bundle identifier which is unique to each and every app. Usually goes something like this com.apple.mail (prefix, usually com but sometimes net or something else, company, app) Inside each bundle identifier folder is the icon used in the theme named EXACTLY like it's named inside the app (usually [email protected] but that varies too.) to find out all this info look at the info.plist inside the app to be themed. Hope I helped, I know it's confusing but you'll get the hang of it.
okay thanks man your first post and it helped a lot xD thats what i figured but starting from scratch its hard.. so inside the bundle, and inside the .com.apple ect the actuall image is always just called Icon?
No it varies by app it has to be named exactly (including caps) like it's named inside the app (app store apps are at var/mobile/applications, and cydia+apps the come with the phone are at var/stash/applications) which makes it confusing since most apps have multiple icons. You will need to know which icon your device uses. If there are multiple icons iPhone 4 usually uses ones named [email protected] or something with 114 in it (HD icons are 114x114 pixels.)
