Amazing App(well tweak) idea for lost iPhones/iTouches
Even if you lose your ipod there is still a chance that someone who cares enough to return finds it. They could look through your contacts and find a relative or someone to give it to, maybe even find your home phone number. This is impossible though if the device is locked. You would have to choose between keeping your device safe from strangers and no chance of getting it when lost or not safe and it might be found right? Wrong. Would if someone could make a tweak that would add a button to the lockscreen, that when clicked would show a page with contact information? Does anybody who knows how to code for the iDevice think they are up for the task? Below is a picture I made of what I think it should look similar too. The size, location, and color of the button should be able to be easily changed in the iDevice. With this you could have protection for your iDevice while still have a chance of it being returned if lost. It would also remove the temptation for them to just keep it like that. As soon as the slide to unlock thing is slid it should just go away.

Good idea. I use find my iPhone on 4.2.1 from the app store. I can send messages to my phone as much as I want from my computer. I can also lock my phone or even wipe my phone if nobody wants to contact me to give it back. Nonetheless, good idea for devices that can't go up to 4.2.1 like iPhone 2G and iPT 1G.

I'm sure it would be unlikely to lose an iPad. But I'm sure it'd be likely for some mean person to steal one.

would probably be better if it could be added to lock code entry screen somewhere if that's even possible, most lockscreen modders aren't going to want the extra stuff on their lockscreens if they are going for a clean look
In the end we're all just chalk lines on the concrete, drawn only to be washed away. For the time that I've been given, I am what I am.

It should. It goes thru Apple's MobileMe not your phone carrier
